On the outside of this main mode, you have a survival mode and a Fortnite-like progression system. It’s a strange mix of genres, but on the whole, it works. Everyone works together to keep your seed of Yggdrasil alive as long as possible. Each game you join had a randomly generated map, with biomes, quests, resources and enemies. While it’s possible to play the game solo, I personally found this to be a little drab after all, Tribes of Midgard is an online multiplayer affair, and should be played as such. When you jump into Saga mode, which is Tribes’ main offering, you share a server with other players. They proceeded to show a few more of the game’s basic systems like combat and how to protect your village but after that, I was thrust into the experience proper. I do go into things with an open mind though, so I was keen to see where these two horny cats led me. At this point, I was starting to doubt my initial dungeon-crawling thoughts and wondered if I had fallen into a more pleasing looking Minecraft.
